From time to time we have clients come in filled with nerves about their injectables appointment. A lot of the time, it’s because they’ve heard from someone some silly rumour about injectables or they’ve watched one too many reality TV shows that have shown how injectables can go wrong. Here at Skinduced, we are here to put your mind at ease and prove if some of these myths are fact or fiction.
“Injectables are permanent”
FICTION: As much as we wish they could be, this is a bunch of fiction. On average injectables typically last 4-6 months before needing a touch up. This comes as a positive for a lot of newbies to injectables, as it gives them a chance to make changes after that time period. At your touch up consultation you can discuss what changes you’d like to make or if you’re happy with your initial filler results.
“All injectables are the same”
FICTION: When it comes to booking in a filler appointment, some clients are confused about the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. To put it simply, anti-wrinkle injections are explained pretty simply – they reduce and prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Whereas, dermal fillers are used to plump the skin’s appearance and rejuvenate the face.
“You will be able to tell you’ve had filler done”
FICTION: The way someone wants their fillers to look is a decision solely made between the client and the injection specialist. In your appointment you will discuss what expectations you have with your filler, if you want them to be natural looking or a little extra.
A lot of our clients tend to lean more towards the more natural looking option, and with this a lot of the time the results are noticeable while still remaining natural. The flip side of the coin is that some clients seek the look of a dramatic pout and of course, you will be able to recognise the use of filler in these cases – but let’s remove the shame around that!
Either way, here at Skinduced we want you to get the results you want and hold no judgment which way you want to go when it comes to filler.
“fillers can hide my gummy smile”
FACT: You should be proud of your smile, and never want to hide something that shows you are happy. If you feel insecure about your gummy smile, let us help you with this good news! It has been proven that utilizing lip filler will minimize the appearance of a gummy smile and have you showing off your smile in no time.
“Fillers are addictive”
FICTION: While we love our regular clients who come in time and time again, who boast about how “addicted” they are to filler, we need to make it clear that addiction to filler is solely fictional. There is no medical reasoning for the ingredients in filler to cause behaviors that reflect those of addiction.
P.S Don’t get us wrong, we love seeing clients that enjoy how confident they feel after filler and want to seek further treatments. Self confidence is what we aim for for all our clients, if filler is what can get you there then have at it!
“Anti-wrinkle injections are only for mature aged clients”
FICTION: Of course these treatments are great for those who already have signs of ageing to give them a more youthful glow, however when we bring up the use of anti-wrinkle injectables a lot of clients assume that is targeted only for those above the age of 50. Much to their surprise, anti-wrinkle injectables give the best results when used as a preventative measure. By using this kind of injectables before the signs of prominent wrinkles and fine lines appear, you will age with grace like fine wine.
“Fillers can help excess sweating”
FACT: Often people are surprised when they find out that injectables are not solely used for cosmetic purposes. We have clients come in for treatment of excess sweating, and this is done with filler. Placing the filler in a specific spot in the armpit will block the signals that cause sweating and dramatically reduce the levels of sweat that is produced.
We hope this has helped tackle some of the rumors we’ve heard from clients from time to time. If you have any other questions or concerns when it comes to fillers and injectables please don’t hesitate to book in a consultation with our specialist cosmetic injector Dr Khan.
We hope to see you soon,
Love, Skinduced.
