How Microdermabrasion Works

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that gently exfoliates and removes the dead and dehydrated skin cells on the outer layer of the skin. Fine crystals are sprayed onto the skin using a handheld device and a vacuum suction then removes the crystals along with unwanted skin debris. This will improve skin health, as a fresh layer of skin will be exposed.

The treatment also stimulates blood flow which can improve cell production and your skin’s elasticity and texture. The effects generally last about a month. The number of treatments you need depends on your end goal. Our therapists will discuss this during your consultation.

Please don’t use any at-home exfoliating products 2-3 days before your appointment. After treatment, we recommend you avoid the sun or exercise for a few days, and moisturise generously.

What aftercare is involved?

A great benefit to microdermabrasion is that there is no downtime. A lot of clients notice their face has a slight redness after their treatment, rest assured this is normal. A suggestion we make to most clients is to avoid any exfoliating products for a week after your treatment, as well as avoid sun exposure for up to two days to prevent sun damage.
